چکیده

As the last paper in a series aiming at innovating engineering education to face the post-industrial era, the paper continues the previous six, focusing on a fourfold innovative educational experiment. It describes a syllabus for agent-orientation dedicated to PhD students in computer science and information technology, defending its four unconventional facets: a) post-objectual content; b) postindustrial approach; c) highly interactive implementation; d) self-experimentation. Regarding the syllabus as final outcome, the paper presents its architectonics based on bounded rationality, outlines a generic frame for post-industrial curricula, focuses on the key paradigmatic shift in teaching agent-orientation, and sums up its structure. Conclusions: the proposed syllabus is the most innovative in Romania but that is far from enough in line with standards; the approach proved to be workable; implementation methods succeeded diversely: heutagogy does well (the syllabi were devised mostly by students); e-maieutics is still unconvincing because of simulation (however, evidence is satisfactory); metalearning did not manifest itself yet.

Bounded Rationality in the Iterated Prisoner’s Dilemma

In diverse fields such as computer science, economics and psychology, bounded rationality has emerged as an important research topic. Models which assume the existence of perfectly rational agents seem inadequate for many realworld problems where agents often lack perfect rationality. Classes of imperfect rationality include the conditions of incomplete knowledge, memory, information or computa...

Emotional arousal as a source of bounded rationality

This paper proposes an alternative psychological explanation for bounded rationality. According to Herbert Simon, bounded rationality arises from human cognitive limitations. Following the suggestion of institutional economist John R. Commons, I argue that extremes in emotional arousal also contribute to bounded rationality. This idea is formalized and developed using the Yerkes± Dodson law fro...

Dynamics of a delayed duopoly game with bounded rationality

A bounded rationality duopoly game with delay is formulated. Its dynamical evolution is analyzed. The existence of an economic equilibrium of the game is derived. The local stability analysis has been carried out. The analysis showed that firms using delayed bounded rationality have a higher chance of reaching a Nash equilibrium point. Numerical simulations were used to show bifurcation diagram...

Structural Stability and Robustness to Bounded Rationality∗

The introduction of a small amount of bounded rationality into a model sometimes has little effect, and sometimes has a dramatic impact on predicted behavior. We call a model robust to bounded rationality if small deviations from rationality result only in small changes in the equilibrium set. We also say that a model is structurally stable if the equilibrium set (given fully rational agents) v...
